Heavenly and Northstar celebrate opening day in Lake Tahoe

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Heavenly Mountain kicked off it’s opening day Friday with the Gondola and Tamarack Express spinning at 9:00 a.m. Skiers and riders enjoyed their first taste of the slopes on California Trail and Tamarack Return.

There was a pre-opening celebration at the base of the Gondola in South Lake Tahoe at 8:00 a.m. Those early risers enjoy music by a DJ, fresh coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts to stay toasty. The rest of the day had live music, ski and snowboard gear giveaways, group photos and food.

Over at Northstar California, they opened Friday with three trails and one park, with access off the Arrow Express. Lumberjack, Lower Main Street, Carpet Bowl, and the Pipeline pocket park are open.

They had opening day activities as well, Welcome to Winter Weekend. Live music, sleigh rides, special family photos and s'mores were all featured. There will be family photos near the skating rink all weekend, and a toast to the season Saturday with Vice President and General Manager, Nadia Guerriero.
