South Lake Tahoe group fundraising for food gift cards for local families

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The holidays can be stressful for those worrying about not only buying gifts, but for the basics of putting food on the table.
#IRunWithMaud - South Lake Tahoe is fundraising to purchase grocery gift cards for the families at the Family Resource Center. Many of those they serve work on the front lines in restaurants and motels and are facing job loss from the pandemic, or they lost their jobs at the beginning of the pandemic and they never came back when things partially reopened. Many of the families impacted the most in South Lake Tahoe are Latinx and they are facing food insecurity.
The Family Resource Center said toys and winter clothing for the children is already being taken care of but what is needed the most is food, according to fundraiser organizer Jen Dawn of #IRunWithMaud.
How people can help:

2. Purchase gift card to Grocery Outlet or Smart & Final and deliver them to the Family Resource Center directly at 3501 Spruce Avenue. Call first at 530.542.0740.
"Latinx communities have been dramatically impacted by the COVID-19 shutdowns as well as illness, exposure and forced quarantine," said Jen. "Please help support our neighbors."
While food gift cards can always be used, this fundraiser is aiming for December 20 as the date all cards should be given to the Family Resource Center.
