Event Date:
Repeats every day until Sun Dec 02 2018 .
December 1, 2018 (All day)
December 2, 2018 (All day)
The fifth annual Zawadisha Holiday Bazaar will be held at The Landing on December 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on December 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Local entrepreneurs, artisans and the community are being connected to support the concept of shopping locally while making change globally. A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to Zawadisha, a social enterprise founded in Lake Tahoe by Jen Gurecki and Julie Lowe. Zawadisha will invest the funds from the event into their leadership and business training program for rural Kenyan women.
“When you invest in women, you are investing in families and communities, and the ripple effect of that can be felt across the globe,” said Jen Gurecki, Zawadisha founder and board president.
“Working with women to create an event that showcases local talents and products is inspiring because we are impacting our economy and community. It gives people a greater sense of importance and place in their community,” said Kelly Matzen from The Tides Project and lead organizer for the bazaar.
The vendors at the Zawadisha Holiday Bazaar will be offering up a diverse set of wares including ceramics, jewelry, home decorations, clothing and accessories. Jimmy's Restaurant will be open for lunch so those enjoying the shopping can relax and enjoy the food and camaraderie.
