Chance of snow for much of week ahead in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A fast-moving and cold system is dropping snow in the Lake Tahoe Basin with total snow accumulations 5 to 10 inches in this storm, 8 to 14 inches along and west of Highway 89. This snow will be powderier.
The Winter Storm Warning expires on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
Tonight through Monday, cold and dry conditions settle over the region with highs remaining well below average. Overnight lows will be quite chilly, especially in areas that have a few inches of snow on the ground along with clear skies.
A slow moving low-pressure system is coming from the west this week, bringing with it a potential of an additional foot of snow at the Sierra crest and a few more inches at lake level.
The forecast from the National Weather Service in Reno:
Today - Snow before 2pm, then snow showers, mainly between 2pm and 5pm. High near 32. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
Tonight - Scattered snow showers, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 17. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Sunday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph.
Sunday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 12. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph.
Monday - A 10 percent chance of snow after 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 36. East wind around 5 mph.
Monday Night - A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday - A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 37. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Tuesday Night - A chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 22.
Wednesday - A chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 37.
Wednesday Night - A chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 21.
Thursday - A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38.
Thursday Night - A slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.
Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 40.
