The Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless will host training sessions for members of the community who would like to become new Warm Room volunteers this season. The Warm Room in South Lake Tahoe is an overnight emergency shelter that operates three-four months during the winter.
Training will take place at CoWork Tahoe, 3079 Harrison Ave #12, on Friday, December 6 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and on Thursday, December 12 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Each free, two-hour training session will provide the necessary information to get started: Warm Room policies and procedures, roles and responsibilities, and to how to sign up for shifts. To sign up to join a session, click here: https://signup.com/go/MKuxFnu.
For those who have volunteered in the past, no new training is required.
The Warm Room is a safe and warm environment for those experiencing homelessness in our community. Since the first season, it has been open for over 450 nights and provided over 10,000 shelter bed nights. This year's Warm Room location will be announced as soon as possible.
