Wind gusts and breezy conditions are expected today around the greater Lake Tahoe area. A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect through 4 p.m. this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Meanwhile, a red flag warning is in effect through 7 p.m. tonight for much of the west slope. North to east winds are expected to increase as the surface gradient strengthens, according to the weather service. The strongest winds are expected to be over the higher Northern Sierra.
East winds are 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph over the ridges and exposed areas and northeast winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph elsewhere. Humidity is expected to be in the single digit to low teens today.
