While there are no major storms on the horizon, any precipitation is welcome at this time.

Of those, six are in El Dorado Hills, one in Greater Placerville; one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and two in the Lake Tahoe region.
One of those new cases are under the age of 18, 4 aged 18-49, 6 aged 50-64, 1 ages 65 or older.
Another 310 people were tested for the coronavirus and 604 negative tests results were received.
There have been another 20 assumed recoveries with 96 assumed active cases.

The new cases: Both are aged 50-64.
Another 201 people were tested for the coronavirus and 199 negative tests results were received.
There have been another 9 assumed recoveries with 126 assumed active cases.
There is currently one COVID-19 ICU patient at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and two suspected cases in the hospital.

From Friday, Oct. 23 through Sunday, Oct. 25 and Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 31, V&T Railway will offer child-focused haunted rides at at 6:00 p.m. and adult-focused haunted rides at 8:00 p.m. Each ride will follow COVID-19 guidelines and offer an alternative this year for Halloween fun. Ticket prices are $40 per rider for the 6:00 p.m. family ride and $75 per rider for the 8:00 p.m. adult ride.

Teens 4 Tahoe, an environmental stewardship group formed by six teens in collaboration with the nonprofit Tahoe Fund, will host a free virtual screening of the award-winning documentary Wilder Than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future on October 4, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The virtual event, proposed by the teens living in Tahoe and around the Bay Area, will be the group’s first effort to help educate their peers about wildfire preparedness. It will include viewing of the one-hour long documentary followed by an online Q&A session with Kevin White, the film’s producer.

Fork Fire remains at 1,752 acres and 7% contained
Submitted by paula on Mon, 09/14/2020 - 7:06pmEL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The forest closure order for the national forests has been extended and did not expire Monday as some had hoped. Eldorado National Forest Supervisor Jeff Marsolais said fire concerns remain, especially near the Fork Fire.
At this time, the Fork Fire has burned 1,752 acres and remains at a seven percent containment line. At this time, 300 personnel are assigned to the incident.

Another 252 people were tested for the coronavirus and 246 negative tests results were received.
There have been another four assumed recoveries. There has been no change in hospitalizations/ICU (0/0) and there are no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

Two were in El Dorado Hills, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue. Of those cases, two are aged 18-49, one aged 50-64 and four aged 65 or older.
An additional 117 people were tested. Another 110 negative tests results were returned and there were 12 assumed recoveries since yesterday.
South Lake Tahoe Library thanks all for successful summer program

Although we had fewer participants, El Dorado County patrons still logged almost 20,000 books and earned a total of 872 prizes!

Three were in El Dorado Hills, two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue and one in Greater Placerville. Of those cases, four are aged 18-49, one aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.
An additional 190 people were tested. Another 184 negative tests results were returned and there were 10 assumed recoveries over the weekend.
There are no current hospitalizations and there are no suspected cases in the hospital.

One of those is in the Lake Tahoe area, one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, one in Placerville and five in El Dorado Hills. Of these, one is under the age of 18, six are aged 18-49, one aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.
Another 325 tests were administered. 316 negative test results were returned.
There are an assumed 11 more recoveries, bringing that total to 830.
Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe awards 19 scholarships

The club, serving the community since 1959, has given out over one-million dollars to local graduates over the years.

Eleven of those are in the Lake Tahoe region, 12 in El Dorado Hills, four in Greater Placerville, one in North County. Of those, two are under the age of 18, 21 ages 18-49, four aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.
Another 723 tests were administered since Friday and they received 695 negative test results.

Of those, three are aged 18-49, two are 50-64, two aged 65 or older and one result did not have a birthdate on it.
Another 197 tests were given, 189 negative test results were returned and there are 15 new assumed recoveries.
There is no change in hospitalization and one remains in the ICU and there are no suspected cases in the hospital.

An additional 112 people have been tested, 106 negative test results were received and there have been 11 assumed recoveries. That leaves an assumed 143 active cases in El Dorado County.

South Lake Tahoe did not lead the group which is the norm and had five positive cases. Of the new cases, four are from the Lake Tahoe region, two from El Dorado Hills, one from Greater Placerville and one from South County. In those counts, four are aged 18-49, three aged 50-64 and one aged 65 or older.
An additional 350 people have been tested for coronavirus. There were 342 negative test results received today and 24 assumed recoveries. The current assume positive case load is 157 in the county.

Fifteen of those are in the Lake Tahoe region, four in El Dorado Hills, two both Placerville and Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in the North County. Three are under the age of 18, 14 aged 18-49, five aged 50-64 and two 65 and over.
This brings the total number of cases since the pandemic started to 579, 209 of those most likely still active.

The totals only increased by five as two previously identified cases were transferred to other counties today. They were previously counted in the Cameron Park/Shingle Sperings area.
Of the new cases, one is under the age of 18, four are aged 18-49 and two aged 50-64. Six are female, one male.
An additional 84 tests were administered.

These young leaders were among 133 youth and young adults from 33 states who participated in the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids’ Digital Advocacy Symposium, a five-day online training session focused on building advocacy, communications and leadership skills.

Of the new cases, 15 are in the Lake Tahoe region, 5 in Placerville, three in each El Dorado Hills, Diamond Springs/El Dorado, and Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and 1 in North County.
Of those new cases, one is under the age of 18, twenty are ages 18-49, five are aged 50-64 and four 65 and older. They are even split at 15 males and 15 females.
There have been three new cases admitted to the ICU and there are currently no suspected cases hospitalized.

Teens arrested after allegedly attacking man on South Lake Tahoe beach

At 4:25 p.m. on June 16, officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) were called to what is known as the Timber Cove Marina and Beach on a report of an assault.

Multiple agencies respond to missing child at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Wed, 06/10/2020 - 3:41pmSTATELINE, Nev. - Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) responded to the Hard Rock Casino in Stateline at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10 after they were called about a missing two-year-old girl.
The child's mother had checked into the hotel on Tuesday with her two teenage sons and her daughter. She left the room at 8:00 a.m. to attend a conference being held at the hotel and left the kids sleeping. When she returned at 10:00 a.m. she found the two teens still asleep but her daughter was missing.

Of the new cases, all are male with two in the 18-49 age group, the other in the 65+ age group.
There were no new recoveries over the weekend, leaving 15 active cases.
505 additional tests were conducted since Friday, 4,408 to date.

New area county COVID-19 cases: Two in El Dorado, 19 in Washoe, 1 in Douglas

Both of the new cases are women in the 50-64 age group. One is from El Dorado Hills and the other from the Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue area. There have also been two recoveries.
Since Thursday, 40 more tests have been administered. So far, 1,1740 tests for the virus have been given with 1,698 coming back as negative or results are still outstanding.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tahoe Youth and Family services will launch their first Facebook Live! Chat to help area residents face the stress created by the current coronavirus pandemic starting on April 15, 2020, at 1:00 p.m.
The nonprofit's licensed clinical social workers will be joined by their licensed and certified drug and alcohol counselors to answer questions and provide tools and tips to help maintain mental health during these difficult and challenging times.
The panel will take questions both before the event and during the broadcast.
Quick moving storm passing by Lake Tahoe Sunday; Big drop in temperatures Monday
Submitted by paula on Sun, 02/02/2020 - 1:04pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - On Sunday a sharp cold front will rapidly push through the region, bringing strong winds and a quick burst of snow. The widespread southwest winds Sunday morning will be shifting to the northwest behind the front.
A Lake Wind Advisory is up for Lake Tahoe until 7:00 p.m. Sunday. The strongest winds are anticipated to be near and south of US-50, with US-395 possibly seeing travel restrictions for high profile vehicles.

As we all know, change is hard but change can also be exciting. Both our staff and board are embracing the New Year with excitement and renewed energy.
The following are new programs that will be happening:
o Homeless program for youth 18 – 24 years in South Lake Tahoe, SLT
o Expanded SLT Host home program for youth under 18 including those youth who are involved with child welfare services, juvenile probation, and the McKinney Vento program.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Christmas Cheer toy distribution for the holidays will take place at the American Legion Hall December 19-20, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All households must be preregistered to receive the packages.

Giving Tuesday this year is December 3rd. Tahoe Youth & Family Services is on the front line, building stronger, healthier, smarter communities by providing Mental Health services in the South Lake Tahoe and Douglas County communities.
