SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Perfect Union SLT, LLC is now the second cannabis microbusiness approved by the South Lake Tahoe City Council under the new ordinance approved earlier this year.
"This jurisdiction has been one of the easier ones to work with, especially Kevin Fabino," said Tom Sheridan, Perfect Union vice president of business operations. Fabino is the director of development services for the city and the one charged with all permits and procedures related to the cannabis ordinance.
The City Council unanimously approved the development agreement for the business that will be located at 2227 James Avenue, Suite 5 in South Lake Tahoe. It will get a second reading at the council's January 14, 2020 meeting.
The 2,200 square foot space will contain retail sales, cultivation, and distribution and should be open within a year, pending approval by the state.
Perfect Union is based in the Sacramento area and will manage the location for two local owners. The company has dispensaries, or finishing up licensing for them, in Marysville, Turlock, Morro Bay, and Sacramento.
"We are just regular folks and want to be part of the community," said Sheridan. He said they have reached out to Lake Tahoe Unified School District, Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, SOS Outreach to find out ways they can help.
As their community benefit, Perfect Union with giving six percent of gross receipts to the City as well as supporting a three-pronged education, after-school programming, and outreach community benefits plan. They propose working with LTUSD to develop a curriculum to prevent school-age youth from consuming cannabis. They do this in the Sacramento and propose doing the same in South Lake Tahoe.
Sheridan also said they plan to offer care for patrons including massage, acupuncture, classes and support groups.
Perfect Union plans to be open by April 2020.
The first microbusiness approved, Redefining Organics, plans to open in 2020 as well.
