SnowGlobe two days in: 52 arrests and six noise complaints

With crowds approaching 14,000 nightly, one would expect some complaints and arrests. SnowGlobe in South Lake Tahoe had both during the first two nights.

On Monday, the first night of the techno-music concert there were 17 arrests for miscellaneous alcohol related violations, mainly minors in possession of alcohol or providing alcohol to a minor. There was one arrest for selling drugs and two noise complaints phoned into the South Lake Tahoe Police Department's dispatch.

Tuesday saw a lot more law enforcement action: one arrest for drugs (29 capsules of meth), 31 arrests for miscellaneous alcohol violations (IDs and Minor in possession), one arrest for urinating in public, one arrest for being under the influence of drugs and four complaints to dispatch for noise.

El Dorado County Sheriff's office, South Lake Tahoe Police, SLEDNET (South Lake, El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team) and ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) are all working at the concert and the figures provided are a culmination.

"I’d say it is going fairly smoothly," said South Lake Tahoe Police Chief Brian Uhler. "No crimes of violence and only a small number of noise complaints."

In comparison, Beyond Wonderland, a popular two day techno-music rave at Mountain View, California's Shoreline Amphitheater had over 100 arrests and 25 noise complaints. The city owned amphitheater worked with promoters much as South Lake Tahoe has done in getting speakers moved, noise monitoring and other adjustments. During the 2013 concert in the same venue there were over 100 noise complaints.
