LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - There will be two National Hockey League (NHL) games held outdoors at a new rink at Edgewood Tahoe in February, according to a report today on Sports Net Canada.

The outdoor games will be between the Las Vegas Knights and Colorado Avalanche on February 20 and the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers on February 21.

Lake Tahoe has lost one of its icons. At the young age of 66, Terry Alan Ogg left us suddenly July 28, 2020.

Terry was born March 18, 1954 in Richmond, California. He grew up in Pinole, California and graduated from Pinole High School in 1972. As a teenager, he developed a love for music and found his instrument, a "Huge" (his words) Hammond organ. He moved his organ to South Lake Tahoe in 1975 at the age of 21 on a quest to become a rock star, among other interests.

STATELINE, Neve - The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners will hear a presentation from the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority (TDVA) on the Tahoe South Events Center Project during their February 27 board meeting which starts at 1:30 p.m.

The presentation will include project updates, status and all project-related studies, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) approval process and related transportation funding requirements, financing package from all funding sources, and the proposed pledge by the Douglas County Redevelopment Area No. 2 (RDA #2).

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The ringing in of the new year was celebrated several different ways across the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.

At Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe, a season-long celebration concluded with a New Year's Eve celebration attended by an estimated 6,500 people. The festivities included a 9:00 p.m. fireworks show on the gondola, concerts and special activities all day long.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. The second night of the 9th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe is in the books.

From a law enforcement side, things have been fairly quiet when compared to past years. On Monday night there were 35 citations issued by the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC), all related to minors in possession or adults furnishing alcohol to minors.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department arrested two people for public intoxication at the event.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Many know the annual winter SnowGlobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe as a gathering of electronic music fans in the cold outdoors, but they may not know about the behind the scenes efforts to make the event sustainable and to ensure they leave no trace behind where it comes to products used and trash.

To help them in these efforts, Waste Free Earth is on board to create an environment of sustainability through strict guidelines for vendors and sponsors, recycling waste bins throughout the event, and daily trash pickup and sorting.

The Tahoe Art Walk steps into 2020 with earlier hours for your local art excursion. This fun and free self-guided tour of South Shore art venues each Second Saturday of the month spans from Stateline to the Y and beyond. Immerse yourself in local culture apres ski. The annual SnowGlobe Music Festival is fast approaching and local residents should plan accordingly. There are changes in the noise requirements and the sound will be shut off at 10:00 p.m. the first two nights and will be required to meet the averaged noise limits defined in the Bijou/Al Tahoe Community Plan for the hours after 10:00 p.m. on the final night.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 10th annual Christmas Giveaway is back, and bigger than ever. A Christmas concert and gift giveaway will help local families have a happier holiday season this year on Saturday, December 7 from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center.

The event, hosted by local musician Dreda Dre, will include Christmas carols performed by the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Youth Choir belting out holiday cheer.

Fire Fest is returning to the South Shore on Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. outside the back of Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe. Admission is free and it's a great opportunity for families to have fun while learning about safety and conservation.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - When thinking about all the possibilities of combining musical genres one most likely doesn't think about heavy metal and mariachi, yet that is exactly was is behind the band Metalachi.

Genesis tells us that God destroyed all land and its inhabitants in judgment of sin within 1700 years of creation and Jesus affirms this in both the accounts of Luke and Mathew, yet modern academia (including many Christian schools) deny a global flood during the human experience. Could the "greatest minds of science" be wildly wrong about something as big as a moving continent or the interpretation of the fossil record? Have geologists been wrong about something this big in the recent past? Could the concept of geologic time be a runaway legend from the 20th century?

STATELINE, Nev. - Douglas County Redevelopment Area No. 2 (RDA2) at Stateline is moving forward despite a move to have it dissolved by Douglas County Commissioner Dave Nelson.

There was an overflow crowd at the commissioner's June 20 meeting at Lake Tahoe. Many of those who could not fit in the meeting room were accommodated with audio feed in the judges' chambers and the bottom floor of the parking garage.

STATELINE, Nev. - The Douglas County Redevelopment Area No. 2 (RDA#2) is gaining increased interest and is the focus of an upcoming commissioner meeting so the County has created a webpage to provide the public with history, materials, information and answers to frequently asked questions.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Live at Lakeview Summer Music Series returns to the South Shore for their eighth season on Thursday, June 20. Opening night will mark the highly anticipated return of Vokab Kompany, featuring a brand-new act B3K, a new sound from South Lake Tahoe’s Robbie Gallo.

Live at Lakeview brings a weekly concert on the beach, beer garden, local merchants and food options through a collaboration of On Course Events, Tahoe Wellness Center, Tessie’s Beach Bites and the City of South Lake Tahoe.

Snowglobe 2018 is now in the books. There have been some successes as well as some difficulties. This year saw the introduction of professional sound engineers to help reduce the sound and new field protection to prevent further damage to our new play fields. The sound is reported to have been improved for many though the people who live nearest this event in Pioneer Village, along the Bijou Meadow, around Johnson Lane and in Sierra Tract continue to be bombarded by three days of sound.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Many see the annual SnowGlobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe differently - some as a concert, others as noise. What many don't know is the sustainable platform organizers have established over the years.

Each year SnowGlobe and their partners Waste-Free Earth, Chris's Cleaning, Full Circle Compost and South Tahoe Refuse work together on reducing and reusing the waste created at the festival, and with the Sugarpine Foundation to plant trees for future forests.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 8th annual SnowGlobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe is underway, and after Day 1 city officials reports it was a "smooth start."

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) said they had no significant problems or issues of any kind on Saturday and made just one arrest between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

In comparison, there were 13 arrests on the first day of the festival in 2017.

Even outside the festival things were quiet.
