Valhalla's 25th annual Holiday Faire canceled for 2020
Submitted by paula on Sun, 11/01/2020 - 9:47amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - One of Valhalla’s most loved community events is the annual Holiday Faire, and they were set to celebrate a milestone 25th year this November. After a successful partnership with The Heritage Foundation to create a Winter Wanderland at the Tallac Historic Site last year, both organizations were excited about expanding the event this year. Unfortunately, due to the size of the Grand Hall and limits on capacity, Valhalla Tahoe’s Board of Directors have been forced to cancel the event.

The show, a revue of contemporary and classic Broadway tunes performed by some of Lake Tahoe’s best singing and acting talent, was created by Gabriella Giocomo especially for Valhalla. Giocomo was one of three finalists in Valhalla’s WordWave One-Act play script competition in 2017. When she came for the stage reading hosted at the Boathouse Theatre she was inspired by the space and submitted the show in the winter of 2018 for review by Valhalla.

The festival is Valhalla Tahoe’s flagship event, a unique celebration of music, theatre and the visual arts. The festival is set against the magnificent backdrop of Lake Tahoe and the Tallac Historic Site. Looking forward to its 34th year, it is produced by Valhalla Tahoe.
The Festival begins in mid-June with events and activities that continue throughout August.
Magical display of themed Christmas trees at South Lake Tahoe holiday event
Submitted by paula on Thu, 11/30/2017 - 10:23pmThe grand hall at MontBleu Casino Resort has been turned into a holiday paradise, a winter wonderland with the main attraction being the specialty Christmas trees.
On Thursday, local celebrities and media strolled by each of the designer trees, selecting those that won top honors of Most Elegant, Best Theme, Most Creative and Best of Show.
The excellent work on each made it almost impossible to come up with a winner, but four were chosen after much deliberation. Each tree will be paired with a special prize package during a live auction at Saturday's Gala.
Activities surround 10th anniversary of Angora Fire

The wind driven wildfire consumed 3,100 acres, destroyed 242 homes and 67 commercial structures, and damaged 35 other homes. As many as 2,180 firefighters battled the blaze with was 100% contained by July 2. There will be several community events to mark this tragic anniversary.

Word Wave, a festival for readers, writers, and lovers of story has returned to South Lake Tahoe. The three day long Word Wave will feature readings, workshops, panels, music, and plays from October 21-23, 2016 at Tallac Historic Site.
Every culture has used, and continues to use, story to entertain, educate, preserve history and tradition, and connect and WordWave will celebrate those words and the story in all its forms for the second year on the South Shore.

The annual Valhalla Holiday Faire will be held at the Tallac Historic Site this weekend, inside the Valhalla Grand Hall. This is an annual holiday tradition for many, who head out to the hall to see local artists, craftspeople, Santa Claus, choirs and musical groups.
After the grand opening Friday night, the faire continues on Saturday, November 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Sunday, November 22 the hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What is a Chautauqua?

Chautauqua was a very popular adult education movement in the United States during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Named after Chautauqua Lake where the first was held, Chautauqua assemblies expanded and spread throughout rural America until the mid-1920s.
Former US President Theodore Roosevelt was quoted as saying that Chautauqua is "the most American thing in America."
Fireman and Police Detective wed in South Lake Tahoe on 9/11

First responders lost their lives as they rushed to the scene of the disaster to help the injured, marking the day as a day of remembrance for firefighters and police officers.
Two first responders chose 9/11 to be married in South Lake Tahoe in a ceremony that united a Suisun City Police Detective with a Pennisula Fireman.

There will be live music, a fashion show by Sidestreet Boutique, appetizers from Harrah’s & Harveys Catering, wine tasting provided by Crystal Basin Cellars & BellaGrace Vineyards, and a cash bar set up by Raising the Bar Beverage Catering.

16th Annual Valhalla Holiday Faire
Submitted by admin on Mon, 10/17/2011 - 5:19pmCourtesy of the Tahoe Tallac Association, Valhalla Grand Hall will be decorated in a festive Holiday mode for the 16th Annual Holiday Faire during the weekend of November 19-20. Hours are from 10am-5pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday.
Twenty-five local vendors and artists will be offering a varied assortment of hand-made and other special items for purchase.
Father Christmas comes to visit as local school choirs and other musical groups perform both days.
