They will join the San Joaquin region as areas set to move to the stricter health orders due to a rapidly dwindling supply of ICU beds.

Of those, 32 are in El Dorado Hills, 23 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 14 in Greater Placerville, 1 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 3 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 2 in North County, 3 in South County, 11 in Lake Tahoe region. There are two less awaiting address confirmation, awaiting address confirmation for 8.
One of those new cases, seven are under the age of 18, 46 are aged 18-49, 20 are aged 50-64, and 14 aged 65 or older.
El Dorado County reactivates its Emergency Operations Center

County’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in response to the increase in COVID-19 cases and its impact on County hospitals. It includes personnel from the Sheriff’s Office, County Public Health department and the County’s Chief Administrative Office.

This will bring breezy conditions Monday, especially north of Interstate 80. Tuesday will bring cooler, but still seasonable, high temperatures. Temperatures will remain around average mid to late week with generally light winds, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.
Alpine County moves into the Red Tier
Submitted by paula on Sat, 11/28/2020 - 1:27pmAs of noon Saturday, Alpine County has been assigned by the California Department of Public Health to the Red Tier in the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. This move is based on statistical data which includes:
- Test Positivity (7-day average with a 4-day lag) – 5.8 percent
- Total new cases (7-day total with a 4-day lag) – 6
Being the smallest county in the state with about 1,200 residents, their increasing case load has concerned Public Health Officer, Dr. Richard Johnson.

Of those, 58 are in El Dorado Hills, 32 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 11 in North County, 11 in Greater Placerville, nine in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 13 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, four in South County, 51 in Lake Tahoe region. There four less awaiting address confirmation (total still awaiting address confirmation is 14).
One of those new cases, 17 are under the age of 18, 96 are aged 18-49, 40 are aged 50-64, and 32 aged 65 or older.

Alpine County has experienced a large increase in COVID-19 cases so the Dr. Richard Johnson, the county's health officer had anticipated the move.
Nevada under new safety measures after surge of COVID-19 deaths and positivity rate
Submitted by paula on Sun, 11/22/2020 - 5:52pmGovernor Steve Sisolak announced a "at least a three-week statewide pause" to protect Nevadans from the pandemic due to a surge in positive cases and deaths. Starting Tuesday, November 24 at 12:01 a.m. there will be tighter business restrictions and a stricter mask mandate in the state of Nevada.
Many thought he would be calling for a shutdown in the state, but instead he chose the "pause" at this time. Sisolak said ten percent of all COVID-19 cases in Nevada since beginning of pandemic have been recorded in the last seven days.

Lake Tahoe Unified School District moves back to all distance learning

A significant number of staff members currently have COVID-19 or have been in direct contact with a confirmed positive individual.

New stop signs installed on South Lake Tahoe streets to improve safety
Submitted by paula on Tue, 11/17/2020 - 2:52pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There are three new stop signs in the Rocky Point neighborhood of South Lake Tahoe in response to complaints about speeding vehicles and unclear lines of sight.
Last week City of South Lake Tahoe Public Works staff installed stop signs at Chonokis Road and Rocky Point Road, and on Montreal Avenue at Moss and Fern roads.
The City hired a traffic engineer to do an assessment of the conditions after they received complaints and requests to look at speeders using the neighborhood to bypass Highway 50/Lake Tahoe Boulevard through the casino corridor.
Tahoe Fund calls for projects to fund that help preserve the Lake Tahoe Basin

The funding for projects are designed to restore Lake Tahoe’s famed clarity, create healthier forests, improve transportation, create more sustainable recreation, and inspire greater stewardship in the region.
Lake Tahoe storm upgraded from "watch" to "warning"
Submitted by paula on Tue, 11/17/2020 - 8:18amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - We are already experiencing the winds that are accompanying the latest storm for the Lake Tahoe Basin. The High Wind Warning is in effect until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Winds are from the south to southwest winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. There are hazardous boating conditions on Lake Tahoe with waves 3 to 6 feet from mid-lake to north and east shores.

With this direction, El Dorado County was to move into the red tier, the one reserved for areas with substantial cases, but the county has entered the state's tier adjudication process and asked to remain in the orange tier.

Time to Fall Back as daylight saving time comes to an end for 2020
Submitted by paula on Fri, 10/30/2020 - 8:31pmDaylight-saving time comes to an end for 2020 on Sunday, November 1 at 2:00 a.m. in much of the United States. Clocks will move back one hour as standard time starts its run.
The practice of having the time change started in the early 1900s as a way to make better use of daylight during the spring and summer months, so there is an extra hour of sunlight in the evening instead of the morning.

City of South Lake Tahoe adopts Climate Action Plan

This plan will be used as a dynamic, policy-guiding roadmap to provide insight on strategies and actions that can be taken in the community to help move towards is two climate goals - 100 percent renewable community electricity by 2032 and a 80 percent reduction in community greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.

Of those, two are in El Dorado Hills, one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, two in Diamond Springs/El Dorado and none in the Lake Tahoe region. There is also a -1 case count for Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue.
One of those new cases 4 are aged 18-49, 1 aged 50-64, and -1 ages 65 or older.
Another 226 people were tested for the coronavirus and 222 negative tests results were received.

Of those, six are in El Dorado Hills, one in Greater Placerville; one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and two in the Lake Tahoe region.
One of those new cases are under the age of 18, 4 aged 18-49, 6 aged 50-64, 1 ages 65 or older.
Another 310 people were tested for the coronavirus and 604 negative tests results were received.
There have been another 20 assumed recoveries with 96 assumed active cases.

The questions focused mainly on topics relating to things that will or may affect both the local small businesses and the community in general.
Their board made the decision to not endorse a specific candidate this election, but instead rank them based on how much they align with the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce goals based on their answers to the questions below.

Of those, seven are in El Dorado Hills, one in Greater Placerville; one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and five in the Lake Tahoe region.
Three of them are under the age of 18, 7 aged 18-49, 5 aged 50-64.
Another 619 people were tested for the coronavirus and 604 negative tests results were received.
There have been another 16 assumed recoveries with 104 assumed active cases.
