COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 12 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, six are in El Dorado Hills, one in Greater Placerville; one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and two in the Lake Tahoe region.

One of those new cases are under the age of 18, 4 aged 18-49, 6 aged 50-64, 1 ages 65 or older.

Another 310 people were tested for the coronavirus and 604 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 20 assumed recoveries with 96 assumed active cases.

There are currently no COVID-19 ICU patients at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and no suspected cases in the ICU.

El Dorado County is in the orange/moderate tier of reopening. To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.1 percent positivity (specimens from Oct. 7-13), and the 14-day rate of new cases is 42 (-1).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county has moved back into the Moderate Tier and no area is currently in the High Tier. El Dorado Hills, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, and El Dorado/Diamond Springs are in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99) Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, South County, North County, and Placerville are in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,302 cases with 513 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individual was a male Lyon County resident in his 80’s. CCHHS is also reporting 26 new cases and 33 additional recoveries in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,646, with 1,444 recoveries and 21 deaths; 181 cases remain active.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 143 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 131 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 36 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 124 (+0) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 25 (+2) in Truckee, 9 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 2.2 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 3.8 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4.4 percent, 14-day increase is 8.3 percent.
