COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 36 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 12 are in El Dorado Hills, one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, six in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, five in Greater Placerville, two in North County, and nine in the Lake Tahoe region.

One of those new cases, 3 are under 18, 17 are aged 18-49, 12 aged 50-64, and 4 aged 65 or older.

Another 666 people were tested for the coronavirus and 630 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 15 assumed recoveries with 102 assumed active cases.

There is currently one COVID-19 ICU patient at Marshall or Barton hospitals, and one suspected case in the ICU.

El Dorado County is in the orange/moderate tier of reopening. To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. This cannot be done until being in the orange tier for three weeks at a minimum, which means there is a re-evaluation on November 3.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 1.2 percent positivity, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 41 (+1) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county and El Dorado/Diamond Springs have moved back into the Moderate Tier and no area is currently in the High Tier. The are in the moderate tier with El Dorado Hills and Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, South County, North County, and Placerville (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days). (based on data prior to Monday)

County-wide there have been 1,351 cases with 523 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

There have been 40 new cases and 79 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region since Friday. This brings the total number of cases to 1,753, with 1,571 recoveries and 21 deaths; 161 cases remain active.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 304 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths in Washoe County since Friday.

There have been 90 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Friday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 40 (+2) are in Tahoe City, 131 (+3) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 25 (+0 in Truckee, 10 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 2.5 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 4.8 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 5.1 percent, 14-day increase is 9.7 percent.
