COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 50 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday. Of those, 12 are in El Dorado Hills, seven are in Greater Placerville, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, ten in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in North County, three in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, and 15 in the Lake Tahoe region.

One of those new cases, five are under the age of 18, 25 are aged 18-49, 14 are aged 50-64 and six are 65 or older.

Another 624 people were tested for the coronavirus and 574 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 15 assumed recoveries with 218 assumed active cases.

There are currently two COVID-19 patients in the Marshall or Barton hospital ICUs and two suspected cases hospitalized.

To move to the next tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. This cannot be done until being in the orange tier for three weeks at a minimum, which means there could have been a re-evaluation on November 10 (County did not quality at the original Nov. 3 date).

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 2.8 percent positivity (specimens from Oct. 24-Nov. 1) and the 14-day rate of new cases is 93 (+6) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county has moved into the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100). We have been joined by El Dorado Hills and Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue. El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and Greater Placerville are in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). North County has moved back into the moderate tier with South County in the low tier (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,537 cases with 581 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

We are reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. The individual was a Carson City resident. We are also reporting 147 new cases and 51 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region since Friday. This brings the total number of cases to 2,163, with 1,841 recoveries and 27 deaths; 295 cases remain active.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 1,083 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths in Washoe County since Friday.

There have been 161 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Friday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 46 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 153 (+7) in Kings Beach, 12 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 35 (+1) in Truckee, 15 (+1) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 4.1 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 8.4 per 100,000. Seven- day increase is 7.4 percent, 14-day increase is 15.4 percent.
