November 24, 2015: 10 calls: 2 EMS calls, 1 interfacility transfer, 1 EMS psych transfer, 1 EMS call canceled en route, 1 call for public assistance, 1 power line down, 1 false alarm, 1 vehicle accident with injuries, 1 car vs. pedestrian call.
November 25, 2015: 9 calls: 4 EMS calls, 2 detector activated no fire, 1 good intent call, 1 canceled en route, 1 vehicle accident no injuries.
November 26, 2015: 6 calls: 5 EMS calls, 1 EMS call canceled en route.

New Loop Road plan addresses community's concerns

What was once known as the "Loop Road" project has evolved into what is being called the "Community Revitalization Plan."

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra Road: Work continues on a $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance of nine bridge structures in south Placer County to 16 feet, 6 inches. The vertical clearance will be increased on seven structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other two will have the roadway below dug down. Increased law enforcement for Click-it or Ticket campaign in Nevada

The Loop Road project in South Lake Tahoe has undergone changes, from being a federally funded project to realign Highway 50 to evolving into a community development project that promises to beautify, provide new gateways and gathering places. Without this plan being a federal project allows local control and development.
The revamped US Highway 50/South Shore Community Revitalization Project will be presented to the community during an open house on Tuesday, December 1 at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Youngsters may look forward to a night of trick-or-treating, but many adults choose to partake in the festivities, too – oftentimes with alcohol included. While Halloween may be a spooky night, the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and California Highway Patrol (CHP) want to help ensure that it is also a safe one. If you plan on making alcohol a part of your celebrations this year, designating a sober driver or finding a safe ride home should be a top priority.

Tahoe awarded millions for new bike and pedestrian projects
Submitted by paula on Fri, 10/23/2015 - 8:42amThe California Transportation Commission announced this week that it will award nearly $9 million in Active Transportation Program (ATP) grant funding to help complete three major bike and pedestrian projects in the City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City.
Members of the Lake Tahoe Bikeway Partnership applied for the grants. The partnership formed several years ago to secure funding for critical trail segments to improve bicyclist and pedestrian safety and complete the Lake Tahoe Bikeway, a comprehensive multi-use trail network for the Lake Tahoe Region.
Money secured for Hwy 89 improvement projects at Meeks Bay and Tahoe City

Plan unveiled for old Factory Stores at the Y location

In January, 2015, The Sutter Capital Group of Sacramento announced they had purchased the property after it fell into bankruptcy.

Project in Incline Village to keep pedestrians safe

The first $300,000 will be spent on a Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) project that began Tuesday that is relocating a crosswalk and adding safety signs on Highway 28 in the Incline Village.

In the Carson City area alone there are over $9 million in proposed projects.
Regan Beach community meeting unveils top three plans

Almost 50 people attended the meeting, giving their input on the three choices. The engaged group gave Design Workshop, the company providing the redesign concepts, a lot of input on all three plans.

Congress Introduces Lake Tahoe Restoration Act

Sponsored by U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-Nevada) along with Harry Reid (D-Nevada), Dianne Feinstein (D-California), and Barbara Boxer (D-California), the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act would authorize up to $415 million in federal funding over 10 years to help continue critical environmental restoration work at Lake Tahoe.

4th of July sobriety check point on South Shore
Submitted by paula on Fri, 07/03/2015 - 8:39amThere will be a State of Nevada Law Enforcement DUI check point in the Douglas County portion of South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, July 4.
There is a large increase in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic along the area's roads due to the fireworks display and holiday parties. The increase in law enforcement presence at Lake Tahoe will help deter motorists and pedestrians from entering the roadways while impaired.
Construction on first phase of new trail begins on Monday

The new bike and pedestrian trail extends about a half of a mile between Herbert Avenue and Glenwood Way and is scheduled to be completed by August.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the junction with State Route 89 to 2nd Street in South Lake Tahoe: Eastbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday for gas line relocation work. Eastbound motorists can also expect the right shoulder closed at the same location from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for trenching.
Bicycle and pedestrian safety a big concern in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Thu, 06/18/2015 - 10:03pmSafety for cyclists and pedestrians is a big concern for the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), cycling groups and those enjoying these activities.
In the last six years, 12 people have died in South Lake Tahoe while cycling or walking. In that same time, 42 people were injured while riding bikes on the road while 37 pedestrians were hurt.
