Walk-in orthopedic care is now available at the Barton Center for Orthopedics & Wellness in South Lake Tahoe, Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and at the same time on Tuesday and Wednesday at Barton’s Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine office, located at 935 Mica Drive in Carson City.

Level III Trauma Center surgeon, Kimberly Evans, MD, FACS and Barton’s Trauma Program Manager, Cate Neal, RN joined South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue Captain Kim George in presenting "Stop the Bleed," a programs created by the Department of Homeland Security and American College of Surgeons to teach lay people how to care for trauma victims.

SLTPD aiding in investigation of man involved in twenty-hour standoff in Cameron Park

A 911 call about a possible domestic violence situation in an apartment on La Canada Drive was received by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office dispatch at 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, November 17. According to the reporting party, there was an armed man holding a woman and her baby against their will inside the apartment.

Tim Anderson, a South Lake Tahoe flooring contractor, was run over by a car near his home on August 24. He was air-lifted to a trauma center where he remains in critical condition with a tracheotomy, internal injuries, a broken pelvis, broken ribs, scapulas, and other serious injuries. He is breathing on a ventilator and cannot yet talk.
Tim's three sons, Christian, Corey (& fiancé April) and Cameron, and his best friends, Andy, Jody and Joe have been by his side, as well as the Reilly family, Mickey, Mark, and his grandchildren.
Placer County SAR volunteer shot while looking for missing hiker
Submitted by paula on Wed, 08/10/2016 - 3:34pmA Placer County Search and Rescue volunteer was shot in the hip on Tuesday evening while out with a team searching for a 75-year-old missing hiker.
Steven Wolf was part of a three-person team searching between Brown and Fish Creek for the hiker who was last seen near the town of Washington on the South Yuba River. The other two members of Wolf's team found cover and radioed for help.

CHP officer hit on I-80, suffers multiple injuries
Submitted by paula on Sat, 03/12/2016 - 6:43pmAn officer with the California Highway Patrol was hit by a SUV on Interstate 80 at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, sending him to Renown Medical Center with multiple injuries.
According to CHP-Truckee, the officer was finishing up working a different collision scene when he was hit by the westbound vehicle at the Castle Peak off-ramp.
The CHP reports that the officer suffered from multiple injuries, including internal injuries and broken legs. He was transported by ambulance to Reno, the nearest trauma center, as weather prevented a helicopter from responding.

Lights, trees, action! Lake Tahoe community members and visitors are invited to celebrate the holiday season at the seventh annual Festival of Trees and Lights.
The family-friendly festival runs from December 2 through December 6 at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. This year, all proceeds will support prevention programs and trauma services for Barton Hospital’s Level III Trauma Center.
Riva Grill cocktail wins Barton Hospital's "Best Cocktail" contest

The winner of the event, Riva Grill's Erick Martinez, is no stranger to the podium. Attendees voted his Blue Linen “Best Cocktail.” The drink combined Tahoe Blue Vodka with lavender, mint, cucumber, and St. Germain. Martinez, who also received the most tips and was voted “Most Congenial Bartender.” Erick received “Most Congenial Bartender” in 2014 and “Best Cocktail” in 2013.

Sample Tahoe’s newest cocktail creations at the sixth annual Signature Cocktail Contest. Hosted by the Barton Foundation, the community event will take place Wednesday, September 23 at the Riva Grill at 5:30 p.m.
Contest attendees can sample an assortment of cocktails created by Tahoe mixologists who are comprised of bartenders from local establishments, each showcase a unique concoction with Tahoe Blue Vodka and have been known to add less traditional ingredients like cotton candy or potato chips.
Barton Hospital becomes one of four Trauma III centers in state

Barton Memorial Hospital has been designated a Level III trauma center which makes it only one of two in El Dorado County and just one of four for the state of California.
Festival of Trees and Lights begins Thursday
