The following are calls that only pertain to the South and West Shore, including Meyers, South Lake Tahoe, Meeks Bay, Tahoma and the Echo Summit area. Friday, January 18, 2019 - Lake Tahoe Unified School District, Truckee Tahoe Unified School District and Washoe County schools at Incline Village are open today.

Douglas County Schools are open with the following instructions for busses at the lake:

School busses will stop at main bus stops only for Lake school Zephyr Cove Elementary (ZCES). These stops are designated as:

The corner of Tina Court and Ski Court for students living in the Tramway and Kingsbury Village area:

ZCES - Bus will arrive at 7:57 a.m. and depart at 8:20 a.m.

Thursday, January 17, 2019 - Due to current unsafe road conditions and weather forecast, school officials have called for a snow day in the following districts:

Lake Tahoe Unified School District (South Lake Tahoe)
Truckee Tahoe Unified School District (North Lake Tahoe and Truckee)
Douglas County Schools at Lake Tahoe (Whittell High and Zephyr Cove Elementary)
Lake Tahoe Community College
Pollock Pines Elementary School District

Incline Village schools will have a digital school day as the campuses are closed.

The Day the Locals take back their mountains… Winds are impacting operation of upper mountain lifts, so lifts will operate Wind & Weather Permitting this morning… Wind Holds reported at some resorts this morning and some resorts opting not to open… Lift operations will change thru out the day as this weather system moves east. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - If you don't have to be on the roads around Lake Tahoe today, don't go.

As the beginning of fairly strong weather system has just hit the Sierra, there are not only chain controls but also a series of collisions and spinouts. The storm shouldn't have surprised anyone as warnings have been in place all week.

As of 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, chain controls are up on all mountain roads around Lake Tahoe on the California side, expected to be going up soon on the Nevada side.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The third area branch of Chase Bank has opened in South Lake Tahoe and they were officially welcomed to the community during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday.

"Congratulations, thank you to Chase for being a part of the community," said Jason Drew of the Tahoe Chamber. "It is incredible to see you opening and being part of the revitalization."

Drew was joined by Chamber CEO Steve Teshara and a couple dozen of their members and other locals.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - In 2014, the South Tahoe Public Utility District’s Board of Directors approved a series of annual rate increases to fund more than $50 million in critical improvements to South Tahoe’s water, wastewater, and recycled water systems. These upgrades lower long-term costs, improve fire flow, protect the environment and ensure longterm, quality service. On Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 6 p.m. the District will host a public meeting on the upgrades to the water, sewer and recycled water systems, and the ongoing improvements still needed.
