Good Morning Lake Tahoe Skiers & Riders…
Some 2ndHelpings of Powder still out there! Lift operations on Delayed openings and some on HOLD… This will change thru out the day as Winds may affect upper mountain lifts… Winter Weather Advisory posted for tomorrow with 6-12” predicted above 7000 feet… Get After it! Have Fun & Be Safe!
TODAY’S WEATHER: Expect Cloudy Skies with a chance of showers. Snow level 7500 ft. Highs: 39F-44F. (29F-34F on the Slopes). South Winds 10-15 mph. Ridge Gusts up to 50 mph, increasing to 75 mph in the afternoon.
TONIGHT: Slight chance of rain and snow in the evening, then snow and rain likely after midnight. Snow level 6500 to 7000 feet. Snow accumulation up to 2 inches with 1 to 4 inches above 7000 feet. Lows 29 to 39. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph after midnight. Ridge gusts up to 95 mph.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 9 PM PST WEDNESDAY…
* WHAT…Snow expected. 6 to 12 inches above 7000 feet and west of Highway 89. Up to 3 inches possible at lake level. Winds gusting as high as 90 mph along the crest. Hazardous boating conditions on Lake Tahoe with gusts up to 40 mph.
* WHERE…Greater Lake Tahoe Area.
* WHEN…From 1 AM to 9 PM PST Wednesday. Heaviest period of snowfall expected early Wednesday morning.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities… use caution while driving. For the latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
WHAT TO WEAR: Dress warm, layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or Shell. Take warm gloves, a hat or beanie, and wear a Helmet for Safety. Might want to take along a face gaiter or scarf. Also wear good Sunglasses or Goggles. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen (when the sun is out) & stay hydrated at altitude!
SURFACE CONDITIONS: Surface Conditions are Machine Groomed & Skier-Rider Packed & Tracked Powder. Watch for marked & unmarked obstacles.
SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Respect all rope lines & area closures. Ski or Ride with a Buddy if you decide to go Off Piste – Trees or opened trails. Keep an eye out for marked and unmarked obstacles. Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting downhill.
