Letter: Measure F will create a terrific destination college
Submitted by paula on Mon, 10/27/2014 - 9:21pmI have worked at Lake Tahoe Community College for over 21 years as a classified employee. In those years, I have seen a lot of changes – many good, some not. I wanted to address something that I haven't seen touched on yet regarding the college’s bond measure, and that is what happens at LTCC if Measure F does not pass.
Letter: Many reasons the community needs to say "YES" on Measure F

Letter: Coyote soccer experience great for fans, players and coaches
Submitted by paula on Sat, 10/18/2014 - 4:31pm"After a mistake late in the second half by our goalkeeper, the LTCC men's team found themselves down 2-0 with 6:46 seconds left to go in the game. Coyote players lay on the pitch with their hands over their faces in shock that we had let in a SECOND goal, and defeat seemed imminent.
And then something happened.
THE CROWD STARTED CHEERING!!!
I thought to myself on the sidelines, "Wow, that's a nice gesture since their team is being beat 2-0." Everyone on the bench and on the field thought the game was most likely over.

As a 20-plus-year South Lake Tahoe resident and a recently retired FBI agent, I have experienced Lake Tahoe Community College as a student, a guest speaker, and as an occasional criminal justice instructor. Over the years, these connections have proven to me just how essential LTCC is in giving our local youth a pathway towards a productive future.
Op/Ed: Investing in Our Future
Submitted by paula on Fri, 10/10/2014 - 9:34pmTo Our Community,
Our journey toward Measure F began in May 2013, when Lake Tahoe Community College enacted “Investing In Our Future,” a fiscal stability plan to ensure the sustainability of LTCC for the next 40 years. The first step in this plan was to build a shared vision of the future. In September 2013, LTCC leaders brought community members, faculty, staff, students, K-12 educators, and elected officials together to develop that shared vision.

I have a BA in business administration and I’m a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management. I’m a past STPUD Board member.
