The Veterans Affairs Commission awarded the Food Bank of El Dorado County $9,000.00 through its El Dorado Veterans Fund at El Dorado Community Foundation to support its No Vet Goes Hungry Program. The Food Bank’s No Vet Goes Hungry Program is a homebound delivery of nutritious emergency supplemental groceries to ensure no veteran goes hungry in El Dorado County. This program will provide veterans food and other information regarding resources available to them from other veterans programs and services in the county. Veterans will also learn about the Food Bank’s Emergency Food Assistance Network consisting of 35 partner agencies that are strategically located in communities all throughout El Dorado County – from El Dorado Hills to South Lake Tahoe. Community funding like the El Dorado Veterans Fund allows the Food Bank to carry out its mission of “Preventing Hunger – Providing Hope” in communities throughout El Dorado County. Thanks to this grant funding, the Food Bank of El Dorado County will be able to target outreach efforts to our county’s at-risk veteran population.
Kurt Raffetto, El Dorado County Veterans’ Affairs Commissioner for District III says “It is great to see the Transitory Occupancy Tax (TOT) funds finally go where they were promised, to veterans. I am confident the Food Bank of El Dorado County will be a great steward of those funds.”
“The Food Bank is committed to helping our community’s at-risk veteran population. We are excited to be able to offer this program and to collaborate with other agencies offering additional resources beneficial to our veterans”, said Food Bank Communications & Development Director Carey Fong.
