Enjoy free stargazing event in South Lake Tahoe

Join the Tahoe Rim Trail Association and the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science (TINS) for a night dedicated to our grand celestial sphere. The Geminid Meteor Shower will be making its appearance during this time, and it is expected to see many shooting stars throughout the night.

You will be taken into a snow covered Tahoe Meadows to relax and gaze at the sky and TINS staff will illuminate the mysteries of the night.

This event is perfect for sharing with your whole family! It is free and only open to the first 30 signups.

You will be sitting in the meadow, so please bring chairs, blankets, and insulated drinking mugs for a warm beverage.

Insulating Clothes – We suggest a wicking layer to go against your skin.
Warm fleece layer
Wind breaker/ warm jacket
Comfortable, waterproof winter boots
Snowshoes- let us know if you do not have snowshoes and we can either provide them or help you find a place to rent them.
Trekking poles- if desired
Water (At least one liter per person)
Snacks (trail-mix and Cliff Bars are always a good choice)
Hat
Headlamp
Any First Aid items that is required for your well-being (personal medications, epi-pens). Please be sure to communicate any medical issues in a private conversation with the guides.
