Love to shop but don't like to wrap? The Lake Tahoe Branch of the El Dorado County Library and the Friends of the Library will come to the rescue with a gift wrapping party, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15.
The party also serves as a fundraiser for the library. Because of the failure of Measure L, the library's book budget is frozen. Donations of $2 per gift are requested for the party. All proceeds go to Friends of the Library and are used to support the library.

The Tahoe Arts Project Holiday Art Faire is Dec. 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Theresa's Grace Hall, 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe.
Children 12 and under are free. General admission is $10. The faire includes many arts and crafts vendors, cookie decorating, music by Sister Analog, Marcia Sarosik Dancers and Santa. Admission includes food, wine and hot chocolate. All proceeds benefit TAP.

The South Tahoe High School Performing Arts Booster Association will host its 2nd annual special fundraising event ‘Stars Night Out’ on Friday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. The fundraiser dinner is $30 per person and will take place at South Tahoe High School.
Participants can purchase their discounted ‘White Christmas’ show ticket for $10 at the theatre where they will be seated in a special section (show ticket not included with dinner fundraiser). Catering by the STHS Culinary Arts and entertainment by the STHS music department.

Lake Tahoe resorts prepare as series of winter storms begin

Thanks to the highest elevations in the Sierra, it is currently snowing at Heavenly, Kirkwood at Sierra-at-Tahoe, the resorts report.

“We are very pleased with the turnout of tonight’s event with at least 150 people coming out to watch the tree lighting and we look forward to next year’s event being even bigger and better,” said Mayor Pro Tem Tom Davis.

Festival of Trees and Lights begins Thursday

Locals and visitors united to celebrate the kick off the South Shore Lake Tahoe ski and snowboard season. Among the festivities were food and drink specials, contests, bands playing upstairs and downstairs, the frozen t-shirt contest and various giveaways from Sierra-at-Tahoe, Sensational Tans, Sierra Athletic Club, Tahoe Bowl, The Village Board Shop and Camp Richardson.

Lake Tahoe Wildlife Bear Cubs Begin Hibernation
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 11/13/2012 - 10:56pmAre you ready for some fun? Well, it may be ‘fun’ for us, BUT for our seven bear cub in the BEAR Cage at Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, it is not so much fun for them.
We are putting them into hibernation. Yesterday (Monday, Nov. 12), they ate their 'Last Supper.’ Today, they were introduced to some green tree limbs, supplied to LTWC by Ed Cook of Ed Cook’s Tree Service in South Lake Tahoe. The cubs knew exactly what to do with the limbs. They started chewing them.
