Emanate Art Gallery opens at The Crossing in South Lake Tahoe

Entrepreneurs continue to be a part of the renaissance in South Lake Tahoe, bringing new businesses and experiences throughout the town.

Three long-time locals have become part of that vibe and opened Emanate Gallery in The Crossing at Tahoe Valley at the Y and will be celebrating with a grand opening weekend February 24-25 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Benjamin Sullivan, a 2010 South Tahoe High graduate, joined Angela and Ron Cabrera in opening the new gallery, complete with its own full service custom frame shop and unique delivery services.

Angela was most recently the framer for the Marcus Ashley Gallery in South Lake Tahoe, and Ron has been a long-time member of the local medical field. Benjamin, who goes by the name of Benjamin Justine for his photography, spent years in the back country as a wilderness guide.

"I fell in love with photography as I was backpacking," said Benjamin. "I felt it was my responsibility to share the beauty of God with people."

Little did he know at that time that the hobby and passion would turn into a career.

Not only does Emanate carry his photos, but also the watercolors of Dan Petersen, the sculpture of David Foster and oils by Charlotte Castillo. All artwork at the gallery is done by locals except for Petersen, who lives off the hill but his art speaks of Lake Tahoe as if he were local.

Sullivan and the Cabreras took a leap of faith when they started creating the gallery last summer. Sullivan did the interior remodel and Angela started moving her frame shop into the rear of the gallery and Ron helps where needed. It's been a labor of love.

They also want to be part of the new energy at the Y and The Crossing and fell Lake Tahoe Aleworx, Verde, Elevate Wellness and other shops are making the area special.

"We want everyone that walks in the door to know they're appreciated," said Benjamin.

At some point they want to add art classes, photography tours and also add educational components to the gallery. They will feature artists at work, seminars on how to decorate with art, how to add the right frames and other ideas that customers want. Angela said they also want to connect with designers, both commercial and residential, and work on creating the perfect space.

Customers can use the gallery's framing shop for art they already own or purchased elsewhere.

Another service they have added is a delivery service and custom install. Angela said she's seen artwork get damaged when shipped home from Lake Tahoe and she wants to make sure the pieces end up as they were purchased. They will transport to the Bay Area and Northern Nevada, and for some purchases, they'll personally deliver to Southern California. She said that people may also need help hanging their purchases, so they will help with that as well.

Visitors during their grand opening weekend will be able to meet the artists, enjoy refreshments and check out the new gallery. They are located at
2030 Lake Tahoe Blvd, The Crossing, adjacent to Elevate Wellness and Omni. There normal hours will be Tuesday - Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Sundays 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
