South Lake Tahoe Woman Involved in Motorcycle Crash Dies of Her Injuries

A 21 year old South Lake Tahoe woman involved in a motorcycle accident on Saturday night in Carson City has succumbed to her injuries according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Audrey G. Rugamas was taken off life support on Wednesday, March 26. Ms. Rugamas had received severe injuries in the accident which also injured the motorcycle's driver, 20 year old Andrey L. Gallegos of Sparks, NV. An update on his condition has not been released.

Audrey's mother Luisa works at PUSH Fitness in South Lake Tahoe as a massage therapist. PUSH is gathering donations of any kind to help with the family. The public has been dropping off cash donations and the gym is also hosting a fundraiser on April 12.

The fundraiser will consist of vendor booths and activities with revenues generated being donated to Luisa and the family. Any local businesses or individuals that would like to take part in the fundraiser are asked to call Kim Horn, PUSH Manager at 530-544-9111. She will be taking silent auction items as well.

The Nevada Highway Patrol(NHP) was called to the scene of a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Roop and Fairview Streets at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 22.

The crash investigation details learned so far indicate a 2007 maroon and gold Suzuki street bike driven by 20 year old Andrey L. Gallegos of Sparks, NV along with passenger 21 year old Audrey G. Rugamas of South Lake Tahoe was traveling southbound on Roop St. approaching the intersection of Fairview where a gray Chevy Silverado pickup driven by 60 year old Donald T. McKean of Gardnerville, NV was traveling westbound on Fairview. Both the motorcycle and pickup truck collided in the intersection ejecting both occupants off the motorcycle. Mr. Gallegos and Ms. Rugamas were transported by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical center in Reno, NV in critical condition. Mr. McKean was not injured during the accident.

Trooper Chris Kelly of the NHP Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is continuing to investigate the accident.
