South Tahoe High Baseball Team still alive in NIAA-1A Tournament

The South Tahoe High varsity baseball team took their 16-8 league record into the NIAA 1-A Northern League Baseball Tournament Friday, coming out of the first day of games still in the hunt for a state tournament bid.

If the Vikings get by Elko Saturday morning, they'll meet up with the number one seed Churchill County in the NIAA-IA Championship game.

It won't be an easy game for the young men in blue and gold. Elko beat them in the first round of playoffs Friday by a score of 6-5. STHS Senior Kolby Eymann pitched 6 innings, gave up 8 hits and 6 runs. On the other side of the plate, Eymann had 2 hits, scored 1 run and had 1 RBI.

South Tahoe's other 6 hits came from sophomore Garrett Harley (2), seniors Logan Brewer, Dakota Lynch, and Aaron Pfister, and junior Caleb Russell.

In the second round on Friday, South Tahoe got a win over Spring Creek, 10-9. Box scores for that game are unavailable at this time.

The South Tahoe-Elko game on Saturday morning starts at 10:00 a.m. at Dayton High School.

The winner of that game plays Churchill County at 12:30 p.m. That game will also be played at Dayton.

First and second place from this tournament go on to represent the north in the state tournament in Las Vegas Thursday, May 14 through Saturday, May 16,
