As a follow-up to their February 19 Bread & Broth Adopt A Day of Nourishment sponsorship, Heavenly Ski Patrol members once again joined the St. Theresa’s Bread & Broth (B&B) volunteers by hosting the Monday Meal on March 25.
“What a joyful opportunity to serve and meet the many people who make South Lake Tahoe a very special place to live and recreate,” proclaimed Mary Becherer, a member of Heaven Ski Patrol. It was Mary’s first opportunity to help with a Monday Meal and she found the experience to be very heartwarming.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - One might have thought it was a Christmas celebration when Mother Nature put six inches of fresh snow on the ground for the sold-out Heavenly Village Easter Egg Hunt. Despite the snowy surprise, the fourth annual hunt was a big success, and spirits were not dampened.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Note-Ables Music Therapy Services will be coming to South Lake Tahoe from Reno to present a workshop for participants 14 years and older who have developmental disabilities or are neurodivergent. The workshop will be held at Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The cost is $10 and lunch is included.

The local Special Olympic group seeks volunteers to work with athletes in their swim program. You don't have to be a "seasoned" coach, but you do need to enjoy working with this population. This is an "in-the-pool" position.

Chase International Foundation recently awarded $6,000 to non-profit agencies in Reno and Lake Tahoe as part of their ‘Four Pillars of Giving” grant program.
The funds were distributed to the Boys & Girls of Lake Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Xquisite, which provides services throughout the Northern Nevada region, and Special Operations Finding Kids of Reno, Nev., and San Francisco, Calif..

Earth Day in Tahoe is coming fast. Alongside community festivals, litter cleanups, and an atmosphere of doing right by the planet, an important change is coming to fight pollution here at home. Beginning on Earth Day, April 22, the sale and distribution of single-use plastic water bottles under one gallon will be banned in the City of South Lake Tahoe.

A 7-year-old Tahoe City athlete is heading to the USASA Nationals Snowboarding Championships from March 29-April 9, and he is fundraising to help with expenses including airfare, entry fees, hotel, rental car, and food.
"Leland the Falcon" Vogt is the son of Chuck Vogt, the founder of nonprofit fundraising events Skake The Lake, Boarding for Breast Cancer, and owner of Tahoe Longboards.

Thanks to our generous community who donated to our event, sponsored the skiers & riders and bought countless raffle tickets, we hit our fundraising goal. After a fun day on the slopes with over 40 participants (a record in itself), we continued our holiday celebration back at the temple to be entertained with a wonderful Barbie-themed Purim Shpiel (a play that tells the story of Purim) written & directed by our temple member and theatre master, Pam Taylor. The actors were our religious school students who put on a magnificent performance.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Literacy at a young age is important, and studies show that children exposed to reading before preschool tend to develop larger vocabularies and are more likely to succeed during their formal education. If a child is not proficient in reading by 3rd grade, they are at a higher risk of not graduating from high school.
It is due to these studies that today's news can be a game changer for the 8,000 children living in El Dorado County.

On Thursday, March 14, 2024, Tom Millham was presented with the DAR Medal of Honor at the California State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) 116th Annual State Conference in San Ramon, Calif. During the formal opening night session, the California State Regent Sharon Maas presented Tom with the DAR Medal of Honor and Certificate in front of over 350 members of the California State Society, including National and State Officers of DAR.

The Technician license is the entry-level license, but allows you to talk from across town to around the world and more!

Our Ham Cram day is like a “study cram” before taking your final exam.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe will open interest forms for its summer program and summer camps on April 1. The Club will be open for summer from June 24 to August 16 though they will be closed July 4-5 for the holiday. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack will be provided for FREE. The Tahoe Learning Haven's April forum will focus on financial savings plans for higher education in California and Nevada. This forum is for parents of students who plan to attend some form of higher education after high school.
The free forum will be held on April 3 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe.
Some financial plans provide free funds (CalKids) for qualifying families. Both California and Nevada representatives will discuss 529 plans that are simple and easy to set up and use.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It is Crazy Sock Day at Sierra House Elementary on Thursday to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Everyone is being encouraged to wear crazy, mismatched, silly, wild, or bright socks to school to recognize the five Down syndrome students who attend the school in South Lake Tahoe.
Not only will everyone be wearing the crazy socks, but the school will be decorated in colored paper socks.

It is special in that the meal is lovingly prepared and cooked by the Filipino sponsor crew. The menu that they provided for the evening’s dinner guests consisted of traditional dishes that reflect their Filipino culture.

There has been a different focus each month, and for March it focuses on drug and alcohol facts, resources, tools, and information on how to have conversations with kids about these things.

Thanks to the Adopt A Day of Nourishment sponsorship hosted by the Overland Meat and Seafood Company on March 4, the Bread & Broth (B&B) Monday Meal dinner guests who braved the aftereffects of the three-day snowstorm enjoyed a hearty and filling meal. The B&B cooks served up Sloppy Joes, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, and french fries along with the dinner guest’s choice of a wide variety of cakes and pies. A perfect meal to offset the cold and dreary weather!
Lake Tahoe Community College begins 50th anniversary celebration

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It was on March 5, 1974, when the voters of South Lake Tahoe narrowly approved the formation of a community college district for the city after years of advocating, hard work, and planning. With 66 percent of the vote, the journey to success was underway and the college opened on Sept. 18, 1975. Sierra Educational Foundation hosts Community Skier/Boarder Cross

Join the Sierra Educational Foundation on Saturday, March 16 when they host the Community Skier / Boarder Cross. Join them for a seriously fun, unserious
competition. All ages and abilities are welcome. Green costumes and decorations are welcome.
There is a $40 Entry Fee. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. in the Aspen Cafe at Sierra-at-Tahoe.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The public is invited to Saint Theresa Church's annual Saint Patrick's Dinner on Sunday, March 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Enjoy traditional corned beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, and Irish soda bread prepared by the Knights of Columbus.
Tickets will be sold after the Masses on Sunday and at the door. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids 5-12.
Saint Theresa Grace Hall is located at 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe.

The annual St. Barles' Day celebration includes the release of a new beer and a limited-edition Pet Dogs Drink Beer T-shirt with sales benefitting the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.
Bring your furry friends to the Brewery on a leash to participate in the pet costume contest. They’ll also have free live music by Kyle Kirchubel from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Get Rad Pizza will be on-site serving up their signature pies.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif - Backtrack Vocals, an A Cappella Quintet, will be visiting South Lake Tahoe schools from March 18-22 as part of the Tahoe Arts Project's annual programming. The week will wrap up with a public performance on Friday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College's Due Theatre.
Volunteer drivers, cooks and office staff needed for Senior Nutrition Program

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program is currently in great need of volunteers to help in the Senior Nutrition kitchen, provide office support, or drive meals to homebound seniors enrolled in the County’s Home Delivered Meals Program.
The program operates in South Lake Tahoe and on the west slope of the county and volunteers are needed in all areas.
Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe save lives and landfill with thrift store

TRUCKEE, Calif. - The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) has been in the business of saving lives for 30 years and now has entered the business of saving landfills, too. HSTT opened Thrifty Tails Boutique Thrift Store in August of 2023 with two thoughts in mind, generate income to help pets in need and keep more of the community’s second-hand items out of the landfill. Not only does HSTT give pets a second chance at life, but now clothing, home goods, shoes, and more also get a second chance.
