SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another three residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, one is in El Dorado Hills, one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in North County. Of these new cases, all are in the 18-49 age group. .

Another 244 people were tested for the coronavirus and 241 negative tests results were received.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A South Lake Tahoe area man has become the third person to die from COVID-19 in the county. El Dorado County officials say the deceased was in the 50-64 age group and had been hospitalized in another county.

Officials say another 14 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday. Of those, seven are in South Lake Tahoe, five in El Dorado Hills, one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, and one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz.

Another 467 people were tested for the coronavirus and 453 negative tests results were received.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say there have been an additional eight cases of COVID-19 in the county since yesterday. None of those are in the Lake Tahoe area, six were in El Dorado Hills, and one each in Greater Placerville and South County.

Of the new cases, five are aged 18-49, and two aged 50-64.

An additional 180 tests were administered and 172 tests came back negative.

There have been six assumed recoveries with no confirmed patients in the hospital. There is one suspected case in the ICU.

To date, two county residents have died.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe is the vacation destination for millions of people annually, but recent behaviors of many of the tourists have the residents on edge. Trash is being left behind on beaches, trails and picnic areas, overflowing trash containers are shown daily on social media pages, stores are packed and roads are crowded, all during a pandemic while travel orders are still in place for the California.

With international travel at a standstill many are keeping their vacationing during the coronavirus to locations near their homes, and Lake Tahoe is one of those spots.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials have announced seven new confirmed cases, six in the Lake Tahoe region and one in El Dorado Hills. The totals only increased by five as two previously identified cases were transferred to other counties today. They were previously counted in the Cameron Park/Shingle Sperings area.

Team selected to build affordable housing project in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Good news for the South Shore after the California Tahoe Conservancy announced today a major milestone in creating affordable housing at the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe.

The partnership of Related California and St. Joseph Community Land Trust (SJCLT) has been selected to build the community's first modular multi-family housing development. They are naming it Sugar Pine Village.

California puts "dimmer switch" on reopening - Many South Lake Tahoe businesses affected

California Governor Gavin Newsom has ordered all counties in California to close indoor restaurants, bars, movie theaters and wineries as the state combats a surge in coronavirus cases. A list of 30 counties has further restrictions.

"We are moving back into a modification mode of stay at home orders," said Newsom in his Monday press conference. "It's a dimmer switch, not on or off."

He said they are looking at conditions and trendlines, both which are becoming points of concern.

Compliance to State health mandates urged to keep South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County open

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The Board of Supervisors held a meeting on Thursday to discuss the current situation of positive cases of COVID-19 in the county, especially in South Lake Tahoe where numbers are starting to grow.

After almost four hours of discussion, both amongst themselves and during public comment, the Board made the following action items but didn't vote on any county-wide orders:

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - There won't be fireworks shows around Lake Tahoe but there will be the 4th of July Truckee Tahoe Honor Flyover honoring our nation's independence and frontline healthcare workers. Warbirds will take to the sky, flying over Truckee and Lake Tahoe communities.

A contingent of historic plans will leave the Truckee airport at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday the 4th and fly counterclockwise around Lake Tahoe (schedule below), coming back into Truckee by 12:15 p.m. The planes will not be on display at any airport, just a great show in the air.

Kudos: Dental Assisting program thanks South Lake Tahoe area dentists

Our local dental offices are SUPER HEROS! When COVID-19 shut the world down, it shut our dental offices for about 2.5 months. When they could reopen, they were faced new required PPEs and a shortage trying to get what was needed to reopen. Then there was me, asking them to take my dental assisting students for an externship which requires a minimum of 50 hours spent in the office. Lake Tahoe Community College provided each student with the required PPEs, so it would be less of a hardship for the dental offices to take them.

Conservancy awards City of South Lake Tahoe $425K to plan downtown 56-acre project

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The California Tahoe Conservancy has awarded a $425,000 grant to the City of South Lake Tahoe to help plan the future of the 56-Acre site, a south shore hub of civic and recreation activity across Highway 50 from Lakeview Commons.

“The 56-Acre site is already a vibrant gathering place for community members and visitors alike, and it has the potential to be so much more,” said South Lake Tahoe City Councilmember and Conservancy Board member Tamara Wallace.

The California Tahoe Conservancy Board will meet online on Thursday, June 25 at 9:30 a.m. to consider authorization for awarding grants related to public access improvements, climate change adaptation, and forest restoration. The Board will consider approving a combined $1.3 million in recreation and public access improvement grants and $676,000 in forest health grants

Summer fire restrictions around Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Fire season is upon us and many restrictions are now in effect where outdoor burning, campfires, and fire pits are concerned. 2020 started out with the driest February on record since the 1850s, and there is an increased fire danger posed by dead grass and hotter, drier conditions in the region.

It is important to understand that with all of the different fire areas around Lake Tahoe, there are different rules.
