A cast of eccentric and international guests - countesses, arms dealers, showgirls, revolutionaries, charlatans and lovers – spend a fateful weekend in a resort hotel in the Italian Alps. While songs are sung and dances danced and loves rekindled, the dark clouds of World War II come rolling in.

South Lake Tahoe Seniors Celebrate Grand Reopening of Their Center

City staff painted, reordered and reorganized the center so the seniors could once again enjoy their dance floor, library game room and offices.

South Lake Tahoe seniors have their center back, and there will be a grand re-opening party to welcome them back into their updated home.
The Senior Center,located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd, received new paint, new carpet, and heavy cleaning in order for local seniors to be able to use the whole facility including the library, dance floor, offices and other areas formerly used by the county's Mental Health Department.

It what is referred to as the "Senior Game," a special ceremony honored the senior class members of the boys and girls basketball teams, cheerleaders and dance team members.
It was a close game for all 4 quarters of the boys' varsity game, with Fernley holding onto a 65-58 win over South Tahoe.
The Varsity Girls' team, led by 13 points scored by Kayla Griffis, beat Fernley by a score of 55-37.
Restrictions Put on South Tahoe High Basketball Game Saturday
Submitted by paula on Fri, 02/07/2014 - 7:59pmDue to an incident which happened at Tuesday night's South Tahoe High School basketball game, school officials have put restrictions on Saturday's game against Fernley.
Emails and phone calls went out to the parents of all STHS students, stating that "a large number of students violated the expected behaviors of positive team support, being welcoming hosts, and upholding the Viking Goals."
Because of this, school administration will only allow students to attend "and remain seated with their parents" at the game.
South Tahoe High Production of Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein Sure to be a Hit
Submitted by paula on Tue, 01/14/2014 - 10:10pmLots of fun and great laughs are promised during the South Tahoe High performance of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, The Musical, which will hit the stage of the school's new theater over the next two weekends.
Based on the 1974 movie, Mel Brooks added music and dance numbers to bring the play to a whole new level. "The kids have been working hard with long hours, and they're enjoying it," according to Liz "Niv" Niven, the school's theater director since 1997.

How does a community deal with and recover from a tragedy that shocked the entire world? This November, the Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Theatre Arts Department will explore that question in its production of “The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later,” by Moisés Kaufman, Stephen Belber, Leigh Fondakowski, and Greg Pierotti. The play seeks to understand a town that is forced to cope with the aftermath of a brutal hate crime, while also facing their own biases and fears under the media spotlight.

Festival of Trees and Lights begins Thursday

Throughout the last three-years, Barton Foundation has dedicated funds raised from The Festival to Barton Health’s Community Clinic expansion and renovation. A Level III trauma center, located in Barton Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department (E.D.), is this year’s fundraising initiative.

The Lake Tahoe Community College Theatre Arts Department is proud to present an hilarious evening of theatre with the duet, “Lone Star” and “Laundry and Bourbon,” two companion one-act comedies by renowned playwright, James McLure. The production is directed by Susan Boulanger.
Performances are November 15, 16, 17 at 8:00 p.m, and November 18 at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets: $10 General Admission, $7.00 Seniors, $5.00 Students with valid I.D., and children under 13; free for veterans and active military. Children under 6 will not be allowed in the theatre.
