SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe has announced the launch of a $350,000 community playground campaign, “Let the Kids Play,” to upgrade the Al Tahoe playground.

The current Al Tahoe playground is over 25 years old, having been built in the late 1990s for Al Tahoe Elementary School and the community surrounding it. Since the elementary school closed in 2004, there have been no upgrades or improvements to the neglected playground, resulting in many areas now being boarded up, decrepit, and unsuitable for play.

Founded as a non-profit in 1994, each year Tahoe Magic has assisted hundreds of families with children experiencing a financial crisis, with financial assistance. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - If you think it's been colder than usual this past week, you're right. Temperatures have been below normal, and these will continue through the week. Former South Lake Tahoe resident and businessman, Mark Cohen, passed away on August 20, 2023 in Bothell, Washington at the age of 77. Mark was born on July 9th, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to Harry and Mildren Cohen and he was an only child. He graduated from Westchester High School in 1964 and went on to study at Santa Monica City College earning his associate’s degree and later transferring to UCLA. He met Virginia Martin, and the couple was married in February 1968.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The official lighting of the Christmas tree at Heavenly Village on Friday brought out the crowds to watch Santa Claus arrive as the tree was lit amidst fireworks, entertainment, and speeches from some elected officials.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in grand style aboard the South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue ladder truck. Their arrival captivated the audience, setting the tone for an evening full of holiday cheer and community spirit. The Clauses made their way to the stage, greeted by the excited cheers of the whole crowd, young and old.
