January 22, 2016 - 4:30pm
Lisa Utzig Schager from Wildwood DIY Boutique and Aubrey Pierce from Knits & Knots will be celebrating a dual ribbon-cutting event with the Tahoe Chamber on Friday, January 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the stores, located at 989 Tallac Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. The date will mark Wildwood DIY Boutique’s one-year anniversary as well as the grand opening celebration of Knits & Knots.
Wildwood DIY Boutique features independent and local makers and artists. In addition to their retail section, Wildwood DIY also offers workshops for experienced and beginner makers. They gather the supplies and pick up the mess but also provide an environment to work, connect with fellow crafters, and become inspired.
Knits & Knots, located inside Wildwood DIY Boutique, is a mini yarn store carrying several different types of yarn and knitting and crocheting supplies. Knitting is a perfect hobby for those cold winter nights near the fireplace and if you’d rather knit in a fun and encouraging group atmosphere, Knits & Knots provides a cozy seating area for makers to knit together.
Lisa Utzig Schafer, a local to South Shore, opened Wildwood DIY with artists in mind, “as a local artist I am so proud to provide independent artists with an opportunity to show and sell their work.” Wildwood DIY’s first year open has had success, “I am very proud that we have had our doors open for one year, I believed that this was something that the community has needed, and it feels so good to hear members of our community say thank you for opening your doors,” says Schafer.
Aubrey Pierce of Knits & Knots, also local to South Shore, says introducing South Tahoe to knitting is an amazing venture, “as a local, I am happy to provide this niche market for the local community. As the only knitting store in South Lake we are looking forward to providing more workshops for our customers and introducing a younger generation to the knitting world.” Pierce says opening Knits & Knots has been fulfilling, “Being a small business owner, every single day is an adventure. But having the opportunity to provide our community with this unique service and to provide a new generation with a lifelong skill and hobby is so rewarding.”
The ribbon cutting will feature live music, refreshments, a raffle, and a wonderful celebration of local business. For more information click here: http://www.tahoechamber.org/events/details/ribbon-cutting-wildwood-diy-and-knits-knots-10714
