Tahoe the Bear headed to Humboldt County

Another success story at Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care (LTWC) on Thursday as Tahoe the Bear prepared to make his journey back home to Humboldt County.
In April, 2014, a 10-week old Tahoe was anonymously dropped off at the Bear League's door in North Lake Tahoe, He was then taken to LTWC at just 5.4 pounds. He has spent the last nine months at the facility in Meyers, eating and maturing, preparing for the time he could be released back into the wild. Dr. Willetts of Alpine Animal Hospital gave Tahoe a final check up before being placed into a travel cage.
Tahoe's weight is now 73.7 lbs!
The good samaritan who dropped the bear cub off originally came forward to alert officials to where the bear was from. The Department of Fish and Game want to return bears to their natural home once they are ready to be released back into the forest. Since Tahoe was originally from Humboldt County, that is where he is headed on Friday.
Tom and Cheryl Millham, founders of LTWC, celebrated Tahoe's success story on their Facebook page. They thanked all of the volunteers and those that donated food and money to Tahoe.
