A man with strong Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada ties has been named the new town manager for Genoa, Nevada.
On January 25, the Genoa Town Board voted unanimously to extend an offer to JT Chevallier to take the helm of the historic town just over the mountain from South Lake Tahoe.
“We had a difficult decision to make with some highly qualified candidates,” said Chairman to the Board Steven Shively. “Overall we are excited to bring JT on board and to set future goals and strategies for the Town of Genoa."
JT has over 13 years of qualified professional experience. He grew his skills and experience in strategic planning, media production, marketing, and event management, working for Outside Television, Tahoe Fund, Homewood Mountain Resort, Corey Rich Productions, and most recently the Tahoe City Downtown Association. As the Executive Director of the Tahoe City Downtown Association, JT applied these skills and experience to accomplish the strategic goals and mission of the organization and provide top tier services to the community.
JT has been a resident of the Reno/Tahoe area for over 13 years. JT moved to the region from Las Vegas in 2006 to pursue his passion for skiing and quickly fell in love with the abundance of year-round recreational activities and the strong community that Lake Tahoe provided.
“I am eager to bring my knowledge and experience to a town which has truly stolen my heart,” said JT. “I am excited to start the critically important work of representing and serving this great community.”
JT is relocating to the Carson Valley, just five minutes away from the Genoa Town Hall. His official start date has not yet been determined.
