South Tahoe Wells Fargo Bank robbery suspect arrested in Sacramento

The man believed to have robbed the Wells Fargo Bank inside the Raley's at the Village Center in South Lake Tahoe on Jan. 30 is sitting in a Sacramento jail after allegedly robbing a bank.
Michael Johnson, 52, was arrested Wednesday after attempting to rob the River City Bank in Sacramento. He is believed to have robbed the same bank before, two banks in San Francisco and the South Lake Tahoe bank, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Johnson is suspected of the Jan. 30 Wells Fargo robbery at 4010 Lake Tahoe Blvd after allegedly walking up to the teller and demanding cash. No weapon was seen or threatened during the robbery, authorities said. Johnson was described as being in his late 50’s. approximately 6’ 0” and at the time of the robbery was wearing a tan touring type hat, tan jacket, khaki pants and having prescription glasses.

Downtown Bank Robber Taken Into Custody
The Sacramento Police Department has arrested Michael Johnson, 52 years old, in connection with two River City Bank robberies.

On February 15, 2012, at approximately 4:04 p.m. police responded to the River City Bank at 900 K Street regarding a robbery. The suspect made verbal demands and was given a substantial amount of cash. The suspect was described as a male, White, 60 to 70 years old. Officers conducted follow up and determined the suspect got into a taxi after the robbery and was dropped off at the Arden Fair Mall.

Units in the area located and detained Johnson while he was walking along the back parking lot of the mall. Johnson is believed to be responsible for this bank robbery in addition to a robbery committed at the same River City Bank on January 25, 2012. He is also suspected of recently robbing two banks in San Francisco and one in South Lake Tahoe.
