Passion for baking leads to new South Lake Tahoe boutique business

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just taking a look at the photos of fudge, cookies, cakes and other treats can make one's mouth water for a delectable taste of heaven.

The Tahoe Love Bakery is up and running out of Erin Renee Hudak's kitchen in South Lake Tahoe. With her cottage business permit, business license and health inspection in place, Erin opened her home-based business on December 19, 2019.

A life-long love of baking was already in place when one of her house cleaning clients was looking for a unique gift to give to those who stay in his vacation rental. Erin has suggested a Lake Tahoe-style cookie, and one could now say, "The rest is history."

Tahoe Love Bakery was created.

With just two months of business under her belt, Erin has been building quite the customer list through her Facebook page and with local retail and food outlets carrying her items.

Her menu of available items is an extensive one, but she's not limited to what it says on paper. Have a need? she'll fill it.

She makes several different types of fudge including peanut butter, chocolate bourbon pecan, cherry, cheesecake, blueberry lemonade, and caramel coffee fudge. If you can think it up, there is probably a fudge for that. Tahoe Love Bakery also features cakes, cupcakes, and cookies for any occasion - baby showers, birthdays, the Superbowl, St. Patrick's Day, Easter.

One of her favorite pies is the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie, a specialty in her home from the beginning. She also does lemon bars, brownies, and a "crackle snack" with white chocolate.

Erin is not letting the lack of a storefront keep her from reaching customers. At this time she sells items at the Tahoe Keys Deli, Nel's Hardware, Overland Meat & Seafood, Glazed & Confused and will participate in Farmer's Markets this spring and summer.

Many may know Erin from her Mountain Goddess Landscaping & Design company or by her former last name, Epperson (she was recently married). She'll still do some of the landscape work on a limited basis this spring, but would like the bakery business to take off. She has also cleaned homes and spent years at Harvey's as a hotel trainer. Erin was born at Carson Tahoe Hospital and has spent much of her life in the Lake Tahoe area.
