Whittell boys beat Owyhee 71-27 in NIAA Div IV basketball quarterfinals

Defending Nevada State Division IV basketball champs Whittell High School are the top seed for the West in the Northern Region tournment which started Thursday at Spring Creek High School.
The Warriors beat Owyhee High School in the first round, 71-27. They will meet the McDermitt Bulldogs in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon. McDermitt is the #2 seed for the East in post season regional action.
In the other quarterfinal game, Eureka will play Virginia City at 8 p.m.
The winners of each game will play on Saturday at 1 p.m. to decide the Northern Division IV champion. Both of those teams will head to the state tournament which will be played at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on February 27 and 28.
