Whittell wins again; Headed to State Basketball Tournament

Two teams that have been neck and neck in the NIAA Northern Division IV standings all season are both headed to the Nevada State tournament.
Whittell Warriors who have just one loss in the regular season, to Virginia City, will meet their nemisis on Saturday for the Northern Nevada Region title. The Virginia City uckers, who's only loss in the regular season was to Whittell, aims to dethrone the defending state champion Warriors.
The two teams meet at 1:30 p.m. in Spring Creek, NV where the Northern Region tournament has been held since Thursday.
Both Whittell and Virginia City will head down to Las Vegas for next weekend's state tournament. The February 22 game will decide seeds in that tournament.
To get here, Whittell beat Owyhee on Thrusday by a score of 71-27, followed by a win over McDermitt Friday, 54-41.
Virginia City's path was through Wells who they beat 45-37 and Eureka, 50-35.
Whittell just beat Virginia City 57-43 on February 13 in a gmae on the South Shore. On January 23, Whittell lost to the Muckers on January 23 by a score of 60-53.
