Southwest winds ahead of this front will increase with gusts up to 50 mph through the Sierra. Gusts to 60 mph will occur in wind prone areas along Highway 395, with Sierra ridge gusts up to 95 to 115 mph overnight. East of Lake Tahoe into western Nevada, wind gusts of up to 45 mph are possible overnight. Light rain and snow are also possible tonight and Saturday north of interstate 80, but no significant accumulation is expected. Behind the front, winds will shift to the northwest with highs Saturday 10 to 20 degrees cooler than today. Ski and snowboarding conditions should fare well after the system blows through, with sunny but cold weather expected on Sunday. A new batch of storms systems are expected to arrive next week.
