First of two storms this week has arrived in Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - The first of two storms due to hit Lake Tahoe this week has arrived. This current storm will head out Monday night with the next one due Wednesday through Friday.
Chain controls are up on most mountain roads as of 8:20 a.m. on Feb. 26:

Plan on difficult driving conditions throughout the day on Monday. There is a winter weather advisory in effect until 10:00 p.m. tonight. Total snow accumulations of 6"-12" with up to 16" in higher elevations. The heaviest snowfall is expected before noon with steady snow continuing through this evening.
Forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:
Today - Snow. High near 29. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Tonight - Snow showers, mainly before 10pm. Low around 8. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 30. Northeast wind around 5 mph.
Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 9. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Wednesday - A slight chance of snow showers between 10am and 4pm, then a chance of snow after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 37. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Wednesday Night - Snow likely, mainly after 10pm. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Thursday - Snow. High near 36. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.
