A weak weather system will move into the Sierra beginning Sunday with a wetter system expected to bring some much-needed snow accumulation for the Lake Tahoe region from Tuesday through Thursday, the National Weather Service reports.
For the remainder of the weekend, expect rain and high elevation snow across the Sierra and Western Nevada, with snow accumulations up to a few inches possible for the higher terrain above Lake Tahoe.
For Monday and Monday night, dry and mild conditions will continue with light winds. By Tuesday, the second more significant storm system will move into the eastern Pacific with stronger winds and better chances for snow and rain, according to the weather service.
Colder weather conditions are likely Wednesday night and Thursday with snow showers possible in lower elevations of western Nevada.
