Nice Spring week ahead in South Lake Tahoe; Rain possible next weekend

South Lake Tahoe will see high in the 60s this week, with a chance of rain coming into the Basin by April 8. 2016.
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, forecast simulations are coming into better agreement in a transition to a wet pattern starting the end of the upcoming week into next weekend. The Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 day and 8-14 day outlooks both agree on this as well.
This has increased their confidence to moderate that wet weather will occur during this time frame and it’s most likely that snow levels will be fairly high, 7500-9000 feet, for this initial event as the moisture is sub-tropical in origin. There remains a chance that the wet pattern will continue into the following week, but confidence is lower in this scenario. It’s still too early to tell how much rain we’ll see, but if you have outdoor plans next weekend, it’s best to prepare for wet weather and/or have a “plan B” as a backup.
