Snow golf tournament at Alpine Meadows

With a Lake Tahoe backdrop, Alpine Meadows’ annual Snow Golf Tournament will tee off at 9 a.m. at the top of the mountain off the Summit Express chairlift Saturday, April 21. This highly anticipated spring event features the only mountaintop snow golf course around. It’s the best of both worlds: skiing or snowboarding combined with golf. What better way to spend a beautiful spring day than on the slopes for a game of snow golf?

The nine-hole course starts at the top of the Summit Express chairlift off of Sunspot and weaves its way down the mountain to the bottom of Alpine Bowl Chair. Players are provided scorecards, pencils, clubs and tennis balls. All competitors must be wearing skis or a snowboard to navigate from hole to hole, but are allowed to remove one foot to drive, chip and putt. Winners will receive prizes including golf rounds at Old Greenwood, Gray’s Crossing, Coyote Moon, Tahoe Donner Golf Course and Resort at Squaw Creek, in addition to Alpine swag and more. The grand prize will include a two-night stay at the Mission Hills Country Club in Palm Springs for two people including two rounds of golf each day at golf course of choice (Mission Hills, Indian Wells or Desert Falls).

Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the top of the Summit Express chair and is free (with a lift ticket or season pass). All scorecards will be entered into a raffle beginning at 3 p.m. on the Sun Deck. A live performance by Shotgun Wedding Quintet will also take place on the Sun Deck from 1-4 p.m.
