South Lake Tahoe Earth Day celebration on Saturday

In typical South Lake Tahoe fashion, Mother Nature has decided to visit the local Earth Day celebration on Saturday. While sunshine may be preferred by some, needed moisture will be making a visit.

Don't let a forecast of rain or snow keep you from Earth Day 2015 though. As seen in the video in this story, snow fell just prior to last year's event too.

Earth Day recognizes, celebrates, and promotes Lake Tahoe's unique beauty while educating the public about local environmental issues. Everyone is invited to go to the free event at Bijou Community Park on Al Tahoe Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to learn about ways to counteract global climate change through recycling and composting, alternative energy, water conservation, sustainability, and reducing our ecological footprint. Enjoy local live music and dance, swing through the Kid Zone to make some recycle-themed arts and crafts, or get your face painted, and be sure to support or wide array of educational booths and local vendors. Food and local crafts will be available for purchase.

They are also fundraising with a big raffle, so tickets are available for purchase as well.
