Waterline Project in the State Streets Area of South Lake Tahoe; Tahoe Keys Traffic Impacts
Submitted by paula on Fri, 05/09/2014 - 1:59pm
Construction has begun on the 2014 State Streets Waterline Replacement Project.
This project will improve water quality, quantity, pressures and, most importantly, will enhance firefighting capability in the State Streets neighborhood. The project will consist of installation of a 12” main on Tahoe Keys Blvd. and 6” mains on Idaho Ave., Wyoming Ave., Montana Ave., Utah Ave., Colorado Ave., Arizona Ave., Texas Ave., and Jeffery St. In addition to the water mains, fire hydrants will be installed at approximately 500 foot intervals to provide better fire protection.
In order to facilitate installation of the 12” main on Tahoe Keys Blvd., Road Closures on Tahoe Keys Blvd. from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM are planned for:
May 12th thru May 16th, Monday – Friday, from Eloise Ave. to Washington Ave.
May 19th thru May 20th, Monday – Tuesday, from Washington Ave. to Wyoming Ave.
May 21st thru May 23rd, Wednesday – Friday, from Wyoming Ave. to Utah Ave.
May 27th thru May 29th, Tuesday – Thursday, from Utah Ave. to Arizona Ave.
June 2nd thru June 5th, Monday – Thursday, from Arizona Ave. to Michael Ave.
On Tahoe Keys Blvd, no road closures are planned for after 6:00 PM on weekdays, at any time on weekends, or on Fridays from May 26th to September 7th.
Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are being encouraged to follow detour signage and direction of flaggers, or seek alternate routes away from the project area. Buses, heavy trucks, vehicles towing large trailers or boats, and emergency services vehicles will be directed by flaggers through the construction site.
Every effort to follow this schedule is being made by South Tahoe Public Utility District and their contracts, however, during the course of construction, situations occur that may impact the schedule.
There will be message boards at each end of Tahoe Keys Blvd. that will provide information about the current road conditions.
Also, an updated schedule can be found on STPUD’s website http://www.stpud.us/.
