Whittell's Cole Snyder tops in state in 1600m and 3200m

Whittell High sophomore Cole Snyder wrapped up the Nevada State Track and Field Championships with two first place finishes and one fourth place for Division IV schools. Snyder won the 3200 meter on Saturday with a time of 10:28.77, the 1600 meter yesterday with a time of 4:51.53. His fourth place came in the 800 meter, just .58 seconds off the lead with a time of 2:08.54.

In Division 1A action, South Tahoe's Maya Brosch had a good state meet by winning the 300 meter hurdles and two third place finishes in both the 400 meter dash and 100 meter hurdles, and a fifth place in the 200 meter dash. Brosch is also a sophomore.

The Whittell girls won the state 4 x 100m relay with a time of 55.24. They also took second in the 4 x 200m with their 1:57.32.

Other South Shore finalists:

STHS freshman Ally Sullivan is third best in the state in the 3200m with her time of 11:49.48.

STHS junior Quinn Ritter had two fifth place finishes, one in the long jump with 21.08.50 and 41-02.50 in the triple jump.

WHS sophomore Samantha Forvilly placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.52.

WHS sophomore Michelle Barnes placed eight in the 100 meter dash with a time of 15:40.

STHS senior Corey McCarthy came in fourth in 300m hurdles with a time of 41.48.
