Starting Memorial Day Weekend, there is a new parking rate of $5.00 after 5:00 p.m. at the City of South Lake Tahoe owned parking garage at Heavenly Village.
Due to the recent implementation of the new license plate reader system at the parking garage, the City now has flexibility to establish variable parking garage rates.
Businesses in the area who attract an evening crowd for music, dining and entertainment, contacted Cityy staff and requested a reduced evening rate.
The newly established rate provides an evening rate of $1.50 an hour with a maximum
total charge of $5 dollars for evening hours. Christmas, New Year’s Eve and July 4th
holidays are excluded from this rate.
The parking garage’s ticketless system relies on license plate recognition and a customer's phone number for entry and exit to the facility. This type of system is becoming very popular, but has had a few user issues as they learn how to maneuver it.
