Douglas County residents will have some new leadership in Minden next January after under 35 percent of the voters decided the County's future during elections Tuesday.
Dave Nelson earned the support of 3,626 voters, given him a 12.2 percent edge over incumbent Greg Lynn in the District 1 race. Larry Walsh got 58.41 percent of the vote for District 3 over planning commissioner Frank Godecke.
Many voters at the lake were supporting both Lynn and Godecke in the election due their positions on Lake Tahoe issues including the future of the transfer of effluent from the basin (http://southtahoenow.com/story/11/09/2015/buckeye-creek-project-douglas-county-planning-commission-a...).
Only Repubicans could vote for commissioner this primary because no candidate was from the Democratic party. 9.015 voters either showed up at the polls or mailed in their ballot. 6,663 of those voters are Republican, 1,829 Democrat and 523 non-partisan.
Glenbrook resident, and Tahoe Douglas Rotarian, Keith Byer will face challenger Michael Kiger in November for School Board Trustee, Area 3. Byer had 46.65 percent of the vote, Kiger 30.37. Trustee candidate for Area 1, Karen Chessell, was unopposed.
