At about 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening, South Lake Tahoe dispatch received a call of screaming and the sound of a gunshot at the corner of Nevada and Stanford Avenues. When police arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound.

According to SLTPD Lt. Brian Williams, detectives are on their way to the scene to investigate what happened but he said it appears to be a domestic violence situation.

SLTPD Sgt. Jason Cheney was at the scene, and told South Tahoe Now that the condition of the woman is unknown at this time, but he did say she was transported by ambulance to Barton Memorial Hospital. A man that was present when the woman was shot was detained in the back of the patrol car. He said two people were at the home at the time of the shooting, the woman at the hospital, and the detained man.
