Submitted by paula on Sun, 06/26/2016 - 9:02am
Event Date:
August 20, 2016 - 9:00am
Tahoe Youth and Family Services, who serve the communities of Alpine County, Douglas County and South Lake Tahoe, is holding their fourth ColorBlast Run fundraiser on August 20. This event is part of the Carson Valley Medical Center’s Health Fest 2016.
Unlike other 5k runs, ColorBlast runners get covered from head to toe in different corn starch based (totally safe and edible) colors at each kilometer. Each section of the run adds a new layer of color to the runner’s clean clothes, hair, and skin until they cross the finish line in a final colorful explosion. The race is non-competitive and runners from all ages and ability levels are encouraged to participate. Costumes and groups are encouraged.
The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Carson Valley Medical Center parking lot at 1107 Highway 395 North in Gardnerville. To register for the race, please visit www.Active.com. Prices are $30 for Adult, $20 for Teens 11-17, and children 10 and under are FREE! All proceeds from the race will go to support the local programs of Tahoe Youth & Family Services.
Carson Valley Medical Center Health Fest 2016 runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will feature free health screenings and assessments, valuable health and wellness resources, free activities for kids, food, music and great raffle prizes.
Tahoe Youth & Family Services is a non-profit organization that has provided safety-net and support services in the Tahoe region for 45 years. The organization’s programs extend to four key areas: substance abuse counseling, individual and family therapy, supportive services for runaway and homeless youth, and youth mentoring programs.
