Accident at Elks Point Road and Highway 50 at South Shore Lake Tahoe sends one to the hospital

A mishap at a traffic light near Elks Point Road and Highway 50 sent a Lake Tahoe man to the hospital on Saturday morning, the Nevada Highway patrol reports. The injuries are non-life threatening.
A preliminary accident investigation indicates the injured man, a Round Hill resident, was driving a 2003 Ford pickup in the southbound lane on Elks Point Road and entered the intersection. Meanwhile, a 2008 Subaru station wagon, driven by a South Lake Tahoe woman, was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 and struck the left side of the pickup, according to NHP. Douglas Tahoe Fire Protection District transported the Round Hill man to Barton Memorial Hospital for injuries not considered to be life threatening. The driver of the Subaru and a passenger were evaluated and released on-scene.
It is currently unknown which driver had a green light. Witnesses to the event or anyone with additional information are encouraged to call the Nevada Highway Patrol at (775) 687-0400 regarding case # NHP 120706656.
